Sources told The Telegraph that Sangakkara, who has been the director of cricket at Rajasthan Royals since 2021, has decided to part ways with the franchise.

India's T20 World Cup-winning head coach Rahul Dravid is set to return to the Royals ahead of the 2025 season. Former India batting coach Vikram Rathour may also join Dravid at the Royals.

KKR already have Chandrakant Pandit as head coach in place with Bharat Arun as bowling coach. Assistant coach Abhishek Nayar and fielding coach Ryan ten Doeschate have also joined Gambhir's support staff at Team India.

It was learnt that KKR are in advanced talks with Sangakkara who is also considering offers from some other franchises. A decision is likely to be reached in the next few days.

The BCCI is also expected to announce the terms of retention for the franchises this month which will pave the process for the mega auction.
