Mising students seek Sixth Schedule

Renowned folk artistes, singers and actors of the community and leaders of various tribal organisations attended the conference

Takam Mising Poring Kebang, a students’ organisation in Assam, on Sunday said it aimed to include the Mising Autonomous Council in the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.

Addressing the organisation’s four-day 15th general conference that concluded at Akajan in Dhemaji district on Sunday, its central committee president Raj Kumar Morang said activists from 20 district committees and five city panels attended the conference.

Jonai MLA Bhuban Pegu, Dhemaji MLA Ranoj Pegu, renowned folk artistes, singers and actors of the community and leaders of various tribal organisations attended the conference.

Based on the theme “Let Us Dedicate The Year For Achievement And Development of Academic Atmosphere in Primary Schools”, the conference deliberated on several socio-economic, educational and environmental issues. The participants also discussed issues concerning quality education, skill development, woman empowerment, entrepreneurship development and creation of jobs for youths.
