Contributions poured in on Monday from different quarters for the Assam government to help it fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

Leading real estate developers Royal Group and many others made contributions to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), Assam Arogya Nidhi and PM CARES on Monday.

The chairman of the group, A.K. Pansari, met chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal at Janata Bhawan here and handed over a cheque for Rs 1 crore, which includes Rs 40 lakh for CMRF, Rs 25 lakh for Assam Arogya Nidhi, Rs 25 lakh for PM CARES and Rs 10 lakh for food and ration to the needy people affected due to the lockdown in different areas of the city.

Meanwhile, several individuals and institutions also made contributions to CMRF and Assam Arogya Nidhi, giving a boost to the state government’s fight against Covid-19.

This includes contribution of Rs 50 lakh from Jorhat MP Topon Kumar Gogoi, Rs 1.5 lakh by minister of handloom and textiles Ranjit Dutta, Rs 1.5 lakh by minister of state for tea tribe welfare, Sanjay Kishan, Rs 1.11 lakh by MP Biswajit Daimary, Rs 1 lakh by MLA Prashanta Phukan, Rs 1.5 lakh by MLA Suren Phukan, Rs 80,000 by MLA Terash Gowalla, Rs 5 lakh by Howli Rash Mahotshav Udjapan Samiti, Rs 1 lakh by Assam Company India Ltd, Rs 51,000 by Sundardia Satra Managing Committee, Rs 50,000 by Indradhanu Enterprise, Rs 50,000 by NRHM Employees Association and Rs 1 lakh by Akhim Hazarika.

The officers and employees of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council also contributed a day’s salary amounting to Rs 2 lakh to the Assam Arogya Nidhi on Monday.

Many organisations and individuals also made contributions through online to CMRF, Assam Arogya Nidhi and PM CARES on Monday.
