National Disaster Response Force distributes ‘dignity kits’ in Kamrup

Global disaster response procedures mandate the victims are provided basic sanitation and survival items

The 1st Battalion of the National Disaster Response Force, Guwahati, handed over 600 “dignity kits” to Kamrup (metro) deputy commissioner Bhaskar Pegu, while carrying out an awareness and sanitisation drive on Covid-19 in the district.

A standard “dignity kit” for women contains a small toothpaste, brush, bathing and washing soaps, two pairs of undergarments, towel, oil, comb, two pairs of salwar suits in different sizes, a nail cutter, mirror, a packet with 10 sanitary pads, an antiseptic cream and a mug.

The men’s kit contains two pairs of pyjama-kurta and a shaving pack, instead of women’s products.

Global disaster response procedures mandate the victims are provided basic sanitation and survival items so that they can sustain themselves for some time in the aftermath of a calamity.
