Don’t miss the teaser of Rukmini Maitra-starrer ‘Binodiini’

The film also stars Kaushik Ganguly and Rahul Bose in prominent roles

The teaser of one of the most anticipated projects of 2025 is out. Starring Rukmini Maitra in the titular role, Binodiini - Ekti Natir Upakhyan, is a biopic based on the life of Nati Binodini or Binodini Dasi. Directed by Ram Kamal Mukherjee and written by Priyanka Poddar, the film also stars Rahul Bose and Kaushik Ganguly. 

The period film gives a glimpse of the theatre industry of Bengal in the late 1800s. Binodini Dasi, who started her career at the age of 12 and ended it by 23, was a prime character as well as a witness to the evolution of the theatre industry in Bengal. She worked with Girish Chandra Ghosh, and performed at the Calcutta’s National Theatre. 

The soulful background score evokes memories of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, and the pathos and historical depth keep the intrigue alive.

Binodiini - Ekti Natir Upakhyan releases on January 23.
