This Independence Day, every cable channel will be bombarding you with some of India’s best films. The list may be hard to choose, given how we as a country have produced some of the most moving films on patriotism. Sam Bahadur: The story of India’s first field marshal, the legendary Sam Manekshaw, this 2023 film directed by Meghna Gulzar garnered critical acclaim, with many praising Vicky Kaushal’s riveting performance. Starting from the pre-Independence era, the film tracks Manekshaw’s career till the 1971 war with Pakistan. Streaming on ZEE5, this film is sure to ignite the spirit of the Tricolour within you! 

Ulajh: Released at the start of this month, this spy-thriller has Janhvi Kapoor playing an influential diplomat, who is embroiled in a sinister conspiracy while posted in London. The film explores the concept of nepotism that plagues her character, while making for a riveting watch. It also makes viewers question what exactly is the importance of a nation.
