Ever since Srijit Mukherji revealed that his much-awaited Mrinal Sen biopic would get an Independence Day release date, anticipation has been rife for the film. After receiving great admiration in the festival circuit, Padatik is finally coming to audiences on August 15. The director finally revealed the trailer of the film, starring Chanchal Chowdhury as the legendary director of Bengali cinema. Named after Sen’s popular film from his Calcutta Trilogy, Padatik is expected to dive into the maestro’s mind, as he toiled to create cinema he truly believed in. The trailer exposes Sen’s genius and his resolve to hold a mirror to society through motion pictures. It also captures the director’s failures that drove him to excellence, and hints upon his relationship with filmmaker Satyajit Ray.
