A ’90s cult classic returns with ‘Cruel Intentions’ web series

Nostalgic, dark, and set to be even more twisted, the new series on Prime Video pays homage to the 1999 drama flick

Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe and Sarah Michelle Gellar and a small-budget indie film that became a 1990s cult flick. In the decade of high-school dramas and romcoms, Cruel Intentions gave audiences both, but in a twisty surprise package. 

If you are a ’90s nerd, you are sure to be excited by Prime Video’s latest trailer release — a web series inspired by the movie!  

The OTT platform announced Cruel Intentions, the web series, starring Sarah Catherine Hook, Zac Burgess and Savannah Lee Smith as the leading trio. A remake of the original, the series promises to be more dark and twisted, with the tagline ‘power can be cruel’, giving newer audiences something to look forward to as well. 

The plot is similar, following two conniving step-siblings as they hatch a plan to seduce the college principal’s daughter. Cruel Intentions will release on November 21, so get that popcorn, and check out the trailer now.
