India’s new head coach shared an emotional farewell video for his champion IPL side

When Gautam Gambhir rejoined KKR as the mentor this year, everyone expected him to change the side’s fortunes. No one expected him to change its character. GG not only led KKR to the 2024 IPL title, but also crafted a sense of belief that had been missing ever since he left the franchise in 2017. Gambhir’s ‘team-before-individual’ approach led to a fairytale season where every player had the opportunity to shine throughout the tournament, creating the most unified team in our purple history. As he takes on the job of India’s new head coach, GG bid an emotional farewell to Eden Gardens and his beloved KKR in an Instagram post. The video sees Gambhir walking through the iconic stadium, one last time, taking in the fervour of the city that has embraced him as one of its own. He also addressed this in an emotional letter, adding that he was one of us, and would carry the same spirit from KKR, while giving everything to the Indian Tricolour. 

As sad as we are, we hope GG continues to scale even bigger heights with the Men in Blue!
