Director Vasan Bala’s prison drama is set to premiere on Dashami

Alia Bhatt’s last Bollywood outing was the mega-hit Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. After a hiatus of over a year, the actress is set to return to the big screen with her upcoming prison-drama, Jigra. Going by the high-octane trailer, the wait seems to have been worth it!

The plot follows two siblings, Satya (Alia) and Ankur (Vedang Raina), who only have each other left after a tough childhood. However, fate isn’t done testing them, as Ankur finds himself imprisoned in a foreign jail, due to be executed. The stakes are at an all time high, as Satya prepares to do everything, and even considers making the ultimate sacrifice for her brother’s freedom. 

The trailer beautifully plays on our emotions, showing just how deep a sibling bond runs. Both Alia and Vedang seem to have undergone a physical and mental transformation to prepare for this film. Vasan Bala’s knack for crafting thrillers that play with human emotions is also visible. The grandiose production and immersive sound design complete the package, making this Vijayadashami release a very compelling watch. Make sure to catch it in the theatres on October 11.
