Having won the ICC Men’s ODI Player of the Year award on three previous occasions in 2012, 2017 and 2018, Virat Kohli became the first person to win the coveted award for a record 4th time with his outstanding performance in 2023. Beating teammates Mohammed Shami, Shubman Gill and Kiwi all-rounder Daryl Mitchell to the award, Kohli had a 2023 to remember scoring six memorable centuries and eight scores of 50+ on his way to a remarkable tally of 1377 runs in the year 2023. While India may have lost the World Cup in the finals, King Kohli’s performance saw him pick up the player of the tournament as well. With his big contributions, Kohli was also picked by ICC in their ODI Team of the year along with five other Indian stalwarts.

Arriving in the USA ahead of team India’s T20 World Cup campaign that starts tonight against Ireland, all of us are hoping Virat carries his rich vein of form through another tournament as the Men in Blue seek to win an ICC trophy for the first time since 2013.
