Rohit Sharma fulfills a fan’s 10-year-long dream
An Instagram reel featured the Indian captain giving the dedicated fan his autograph on a miniature bat
There’s a reason that Rohit Sharma is one of the most beloved captains in the history of Indian cricket. The cricketer embodies this sense of accessibility and friendliness, from his antics on the field to his recordings in the stump mic, that make him ‘Rohit bhai’ rather than ‘Rohit sir’ to ardent fans. Recently, Hitman demonstrated why he’s such a fan favourite.
The official Indian Cricket Team Instagram handle shared a reel of Captain Rohit, signing autographs in Australia in the lead-up to the second Test Match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In the background, a fan frantically called out to ‘Rohit Bhai’, even proclaiming him as ‘Mumbai cha Raja’ in a nod to his domination with Mumbai Indians. He finally cried out, confessing that he had been waiting for an autograph for 10 years. The Hitman couldn’t help but let out a laugh, as he turned around to finally sign the fan’s bat, making the crowd erupt in cheers!
Back after a paternity break for the birth of his second child, we’re looking forward to seeing Rohit lead the team from the front after a crackling first Test!
