There seems to be an air of gloom surrounding the city, as it prepares to bid adieu to a loyal friendship of over 150 years. The announcement that the legendary Kolkata tram shall be discontinued on one heritage stretch, has hit hard. One of the most significant remnants of Kolkata’s rich history, The Calcutta Tramways have been an object of adulation not just for Kolkatans, but all those who visit the city.

Cactus frontman Sidhu aka Siddhartha Sankar Ray encapsulated every citizen’s emotions with his latest Instagram post, which has a clip of him jamming with several passengers inside a tram. He also penned a heartfelt caption, adding that the distinct sounds of the wheels won’t be heard anymore, as the city will lose out on one of its most popular adda spots, i.e. the passenger seats of trams.
