Don’t miss Team India’s ‘Vande mataram’ victory lap at Wankhede
Virat Kohli and teammates unite in a heartfelt rendition, as fans celebrate India’s return with the T20 World Cup trophy
It has become a custom to sing A R Rahman’s Vande Mataram at every cricket stadium across India when the Men in Blue are on the roll but what happened last night at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai cannot be described in words. As the Indian team drove along the Marine drive to the iconic Wankhede where India won the 2011 World Cup, fans gathered in massive numbers to get a glimpse of the Indian team with the T20 World Cup trophy during their open-hooded bus parade on the way to Wankhede.
While the whole of Mumbai rose to their feet to create an unwavering sea of blue to celebrate the World Champions, the best moment from the celebrations came when the Indian team took a lap of honour around the ground with Vande Mataram blaring on the stadium speakers. While fans joined in as well, the song probably received its best rendition last night when the Indian team sang along with Virat Kohli leading the chorus with every Indian cricketer singing out loud making it one of the most emotional videos to come out of the entire celebrations. In case you haven’t seen the clip yet, head over to Instagram and check it out because even the most straight faced individual is sure to well up with emotions. We are watching it on a loop, are you?
