Tagore meets Swamiji — a musical presentation by Parambrata and Iman

The piece has been conceptualised by the creative duo Sourendro and Soumyojit

Sourendro and Soumyojit recently dropped a glimpse of a performance they conceptualised and curated at the North American Bengali Conference (NABC) this year — an event attended by several popular names of Tollywood. The musical piece, ‘Tagore meets Swamiji’, titled Oi Mahamanab, is a must listen for its mellifluous amalgamation of Rabindrasangeet and the words of Swami Vivekananda. 

Performed by Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Iman Chakraborty, the 4-minute-37-second piece also captures an ensemble of artists like the Chicago Chamber Orchestra, musicians from India, and choir artists from the USA joining Sourendro and Soumyojit. While Iman sang Oi Mahamanab, Parambrata joined her in orating the iconic Chicago speech by Vivekananda. The choir was led by Saikat Biswas and Baidehi Sengupta.

Did you know, Oi Mahamanab was penned by Tagore in 1941 in Udayan in Santiniketan? The swaralipi of the song was by Santidev Ghosh.
