Lady Gaga to release new album ‘Harlequin’, ahead of ‘Joker’ sequel
The 13-track album, set to release in September, coincides with Gaga’s role as Harley Quinn in the highly anticipated ‘Joker: Folie À Deux’
Lady Gaga is one of the stars of the much anticipated sequel to 2019 hit Joker, and the charismatic singer has a special something in store for fans ahead of the movie. Gaga is all set to release her new album Harlequin, designed as a companion to the upcoming movie Joker: Folie À Deux. In the film directed by Todd Phillips, set for release on October 4, Gaga stars as Lee Quinzel, better known as Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
Gaga’s Harlequin album, set to release on September 27, features 13 tracks including titles like Good Morning, World on a String, and The Joker, blending her music with the dark, chaotic world of the film. Over the past week, Gaga teased the album with cryptic social media posts containing phrases like Moondust Gets Everywhere and I’m Ready For My Interview, hinting at the mood and themes fans can expect. The album art, revealed recently, shows Gaga in an inflatable life vest under a shower head, capturing the unsettling and theatrical vibe she’s known for.
While Harlequin serves as a direct tie-in to her cinematic role, it is distinct from Gaga’s long-awaited seventh studio album, often referred to as LG7, which she has been teasing separately on social media. The first single from this other project is expected to drop in October, just after the film and Harlequin album release. Known for her ability to seamlessly merge her music and acting careers, Gaga has previously earned an Oscar for her song Shallow from A Star is Born and received nominations for her work on tracks for Top Gun: Maverick and The Hunting Ground. The singer’s recent collaboration with Bruno Mars on Die With a Smile only adds to the anticipation surrounding her musical ventures this year.
