On July 30, at 6.30am, ISRO’s PSLV C56 (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle) successfully launched the DS-SAR, a 360kg radar imaging satellite along with six other Singaporean satellites. Developed under a partnership with Singapore’s ministry of defence, and ST Engineering, Singapore, for a mission for New Space India Ltd. (the commercial arm of ISRO) the launch took place at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

ISRO shared magnificent images from the lunch on its social media pages, and has been receiving a lot of admiration and congratulations from netizens. The Singaporean satellites, on being deployed at 535 km into a Near-equatorial Orbit (NEO), will be able to provide images for various agencies within the Sinaporean government. This mission was a follow up from PSLV-C55 TeLEOS-2 mission that was launched in April 2023 to augment Singapore's e-navigation maritime safety and yield benefits for the global shipping industry.
