The celebrity chef’s latest reel talks about Kolkata’s favourite budget-friendly eateries

Celebrity chef Ranveer Brar is known to have a distinct love for Kolkata’s food, having shared multiple reels around it. His latest reel is about the city’s iconic ‘Pice Hotels’, which were fittingly named for providing food for as low as a paisa in the heyday. Brar added that these places started as budget-friendly eateries for migrant workers to have a meal, and soon became popular with locals too, for providing filling Bengali meals using seasonal produce. He also spoke about how these spots are adorned with distinct wall art and have a culture of strangers dining with each other. The chef encouraged his followers to visit a Pice Hotel to understand how food can be democratic, and no one needs to be denied a meal due to financial constraints.
