Alipore Zoological Garden, in an initiative to boost the footfall of visitors, has developed an open-air aviary for 200 flying birds of 14 varieties. Visitors will be able to watch them from inside a glass enclosure for no extra cost

Visitors could be spotted watching several avian species with more patience and interest on Monday, besides of course, capturing the birds flitting around the huge spaces, on mobile phone cameras. The zoo authorities are also planning to introduce more species of colourful birds in a few months
