Calcutta High Court lawyer attacked in Shibpur

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident

A group of criminals allegedly attacked an advocate of Calcutta High Court in Howrah’s Shibpur on Tuesday morning, police said.

The attack took place around 11.30am when Tanvir Alam stepped out of his house in Saiful Alam Lane, in Kajipara, and was talking to a friend.

CCTV footage retrieved by the police shows three armed men turning up at the spot and attacking Alam. He was stabbed with a sharp weapon. Alam’s friend was also injured when he tried to save the lawyer.

Residents of the area have alerted the police. Two men have been arrested in connection with the attack.

The injured are being treated at a nursing home in Howrah’s Andul.
