“To be able to serve others with humility has been my greatest blessing, which I always try to follow,” he said at the programme.

Out of 25 years as a priest, he has spent 22 years in St Xavier’s College. The alumni association, of which Father Savio is the president, organised a programme to mark the occasion.

A book titled In The Path To God, “depicting the contributions of Father Dominic Savio”, was released.

Father Felix Raj, vice-chancellor, St Xavier's University and Rector Rev. Jeyaraj Veluswamy, Principal St Xavier’s Collegiate School, were present at the event. Father Savio also thanked people who supported all the philanthropic work of the college.

“What inspires us as Xaverians is how deeply concerned Father Savio is about the plight of the marginalised. We have seen how during the pandemic, Father has made extraordinary efforts to provide every kind of relief — be it medical, shelter, food and clothes to those who need it most,” said Firdausul Hasan, secretary of the alumni association.
