Thursday’s paper is first language. Madhyamik 2023 will end on March 4.

This year the Class X board exams are being held on the entire syllabus. Last year, the state secondary education board, which conducts the exams, had reduced the syllabus as an adequate number of in-person classes could not be held because of the Covid pandemic.

The board has announced that the results will be published in the last week of May.

All 2,867 exam centres will be under CCTV surveillance, an official of the board said.

The board has advised the examinees to reach their respective test venues well in advance to avoid any last-minute hassle.

The examinees have to carry their admit cards and photo-identity documents to the test centres.

A board official said they had spoken to the state administration so adequate transport was available for the candidates on the exam days.

The secondary education board has rescheduled the history examination. The exam will be held on March 1, instead of February 27, as scheduled earlier.

The test has been deferred because the Sagardighi Assembly bypoll (Murshidabad) is scheduled for February 27.

This year is witnessing a massive drop in the number of candidates appearing forMadhyamik.

The board said 6,98,724 candidates would appear for the exams, compared with 10,98,775 candidates last year.

The school education department has opened a state-level control room in the directorate of school education in Bikash Bhavan for smooth conduct of the exams.

The mobile numbers of those in charge of the control room have been uploaded on the website of the secondary education board.
