Postal service
Sanjiv Ranjan, an Indian Postal Service officer of the 1996 batch, has taken charge as post-master general, Kolkata region, last week. Before assuming the post, he served as postmaster general in Ranchi. Ranjan had earlier served in the state as postmaster general, south Bengal.
Footpath repairs
Kolkata Municipal Corporation will repair the paver block footpaths along both sides of a stretch of Ekbalpore Road. The work will cost around Rs 3.81 lakh. The civic body has invited bids for the repairs.
