Hospital compactor machine operator arrested for negligence

A compactor machine operator has been arrested for alleged negligence in handling garbage bags containing biomedical waste in the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital compound.

Five bags of waste like syringes and gloves were found on the footpath near one of the gates of the hospital. The waste should have been disposed of in the compactor machine.

“This act of negligence could lead to spreading of bacterial infection,” an officer said.

Police identified the accused as Debasish Roy, a resident of Shyamnagar Road in Dum Dum.
