Kolkata has opened its doors to Delhi’s much-loved bookstore – Bahrisons Booksellers. The newly opened bibliophile’s paradise is at Park Street, the city’s hub for all things literature and happening. The bookstore has also tied up with the Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters and provides readers a chance to relax with a book and enjoy reading while sipping your favourite cup of coffee.

Kolkata, which hosts several literary festivals and authors, the largest boi mela which will begin on January 30, 2023 has an all-year round hustle and bustle of intellectual discussions, is the third city outside Delhi (others being Gurugram and Chandigarh) where Bahrisons Booksellers has laid its foundation since opening six decades ago.

The infrastructure boasts of a spacious duplex where the ground floor is occupied by the Blue Tokai Coffee Roasters along with the new release books and billing counter. The first floor is the main bookstore which houses bestsellers to a dedicated children’s section to fiction, non-fiction, mythology and even activity books. It gives readers the chance to sit or stand and browse through their favourite books without any distractions.

The bookstore is being set up since last week and already has had quite a number of walk-ins. Like its north Indian counterparts, Bahrisons Kolkata is quite active in bridging the gap between the readers and writers. Book lovers will time and again be able to meet and greet authors and notable writers at the bookstore. Very recently, oral historian and writer Aanchal Malhotra visited the bookstore during her visit to the city. Notable translator Arunava Sinha was also seen signing copies of books at the store.

Bahrisons Booksellers started by Balraj Bahri has a history that dates back to post-Partition days in Khan Market New Delhi. Since then, for almost six decades, the bookstore has nurtured intellectual minds and opened space for conversation through the variety of books available.
