Central Kolkata traffic alert for Union home minister Amit Shah rally

Traffic is likely to be disrupted in parts of city through which BJP workers will travel to meeting venue

Several parts of central Kolkata will remain blocked for a political meeting, in front of Victoria House, which Union home minister and BJP leader Amit Shah will attend on Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic is likely to be disrupted in parts of the city through which BJP workers will travel to the meeting venue.

Meeting timing

Shah is scheduled to reach the venue around 1.45pm but according to police, BJP workers from districts will start gathering at the venue from 9am. The meeting is scheduled to end by 3.15pm.

Traffic on Chowringhee, SN Banerjee Road, Bentick Street, Ganesh Chandra Avenue, Brabourne Road, Central Avenue and the Moulali crossing can be affected when BJP supporters will pass through them.

Possible diversions

The police said that depending on the turnout of BJP workers, there could be diversions in pockets of central Kolkata.

Police advice

Red Road, Strand Road and AJC Bose Road could be probable alternative routes for those who want to travel through central Kolkata during the meeting, an officer said.
