A man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly cheating job aspirants posing as an employee of the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, police said.
Mohammad Sakir, 45, a resident of Birbhum, would ask for anything between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000 from his victims after promising them jobs at the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital, the police said.
“None of those who paid him got jobs. One of his victims lodged a complaint with Bowbazar police station a few days ago,” said a police officer.
A team raided his home in Birbhum but he was not there.
Based on information, the cops raided the house of one of his relatives at Bud Bud in Purba Bardhaman and arrested him.
Sakir has been charged under IPC sections related to cheating, criminal breach of trust and forgery.
