After making her presence felt in a new avatar by consistently delivering striking performances and winning a slew of awards, Subhashree Ganguly has hit bullseye once again. Subhashree stars in Hoichoi’s upcoming series Indubala Bhaater Hotel, which is ready to go on floor. Directed by Debaloy Bhattacharya, this series tells the story of a woman who works dedicatedly to keep her heritage alive, by acting as a liaison between both Bengals through the language of food. Her journey, struggles and the little moments between them encapsulate the essence of Indubala Bhaater Hotel.

“I said yes to the series because of my character. She is a very powerful woman and can be an inspiration for many. It is an emotional story, which will trigger memories. People will connect with it. Debaloy is a very good director and Hoichoi is a very big platform. So I felt that it was the right time to make my web debut,” says Subhashree.

“Subhashree, if you watch her closely, is turning out to be one of the most interesting actors around. She is not scared to take up challenges. Grounded with immense hunger for good work, she will be someone who is going to surprise us in the coming years. We are delighted to have her on board. For Indubala’s character she has the grace and warmth and elegance that’s needed. Taste is memory. Through Indubala and her cuisine the story actually is a journey of Indubala to find her identity and her place in this world. An identity beyond a homemaker or a mother, a place beyond a border or country. It’s in the legacy of memories we carry. It’s a memory without nostalgia,” says Debaloy.

What is he trying to say through the series? “For me the challenge is to tell a story about memories that won’t seek refuge in the opium of nostalgia. It’s the struggle of Indubala against power, a struggle of memory against forgetting. At a time when an entire race is seeking refuge in nostalgia, it’s a challenge to address memory as a search for identity and not a refuge to hide in and languish,” says Debaloy.
