Why did you want to focus on size inclusivity?

I have never studied fashion design and launching my clothing line had never occurred to me before. It was only during the pandemic when I started creating content on the link between fashion and body positivity on Instagram that people started sharing positive responses. That encouraged me to take things further. More often than not, I would hear people’s grievances about not finding their right size. I am myself XL and would also fit into double XL, but there are people beyond that spectrum. And even if stores have their sizes, they complain the products are super expensive. I realised there was a market gap and I wanted to cater to the section that has been long marginalised as ‘plus- size’ people. Body positivity is a new phenomenon. Most of us did not even know this word when we were in school or college. People have started talking about it only recently. I started as soon as I passed out from college.

Who are your icons?

I was inspired by a lot of plus-size content creators, who have also been doing an amazing job in promoting body positivity, like Anjana Bapat and Tanvi Ravishankar. I also look up to Vidya Balan and would watch her interviews. I like the way she conducts herself. My mother is also an inspiration. She would encourage me to wear sleeveless clothes and short dresses and never bother about my size.

Tell us about the range.

We are offering shirts, kurtis, dresses, jackets and co-ord sets. Our main focus is everyday comfortwear that women can wear to college or work. We are also a zero-waste brand.

How has the response been?

I have received good response from Calcutta, Madhyamgram and Asansol and a lot of orders from Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. Our embroidered shirts are selling like hot cakes.
