Mumbai-based Pritesh Shah launched his boutique store Heena Designer Studio in Bhowanipore on August 19. The 200sq ft store has opened with an extensive collection curated from major Indian cities.
Heena Designer Studio has been serving Mumbaikars for the past 21 years now. “Last year I took part in an exhibition at P.C. Chandra Garden in Calcutta. We got a huge response. Those who came to see my exhibition urged me to open a store so that they could buy more from my outlet. That’s why I have brought my products to their doorstep now,” said Shah.
The store offers a diverse range of options to choose from. From corsets and tunics to kurtis, dupattas and saris. There are Bandhej saris, garba jackets and skirts with Kutch embroidery. And, they are well-priced too. The idea is to reach a large number of people.
The garments are handmade, machine-made and there’s a mix of hand and machine work too.
“We curate fabrics from Delhi and Jaipur and get them made in our facility in Mumbai. Some of the embroideries are handmade in Calcutta while some are in Delhi and Bombay. We also curate imported fabrics from Delhi to make some of our gowns. We also do a lot of work with the Moroccan sari concept. It has pure pashmina and Parsi work,” he said.

The mirrorwork top is paired with silk dhoti pants. The sequins add shine.
The entire set is made of chiffon and raw silk. The dhoti skirt and the crop top are teamed with a jacket that has moti and lace work. The crop top has sequins, katdana work, motis and thread work.
Model Swagata Choudhury flaunted a ruffle sari with KashmiriPashminaParsi work.
