After their successful stint with Tribe Cafe, the owners have now come up with brand new offerings — a Mughlai dine den called Dastaan, and a quick-service restaurant called Pourover in the same premises.
While Dastaan is a new take on the classic Mughlai dishes that have remained a favourite for generations, Pourover will mainly serve American and Continental classics, along with some modern variations in their menu.

“Biryani is ubiquitous. Especially in Calcutta, we find biryani lovers in each age group. That is what we have aimed to do at Dastaan. We are trying to serve the classics with a modern retelling of their stories. This area does not have very famous Mughlai eateries as such, with Dastaan we exactly cater to that issue. And as far as Pourover goes, the idea is to create a quick and easy cafe space with quality dishes,” said (l-r) Pinaki Ghosh, Sanjay Roy Chowdhury and Shilpa Chakraborty, co-owners.
DASTAAN MENU
(L-R) The Chicken Kaalimirch kebab rightly blends the combination of subtle sweetness and chilli, bringing about an explosion of rich flavours and textures in your mouth. This classic appetizer has been given a modern take by the infusion of aromas and varied ingredients. Dastaan’s Chicken Biryani has been a favourite with foodies since its cloud kitchen days. Unlike most biryanis, this does not sit very heavy on the palate and can be enjoyed in sumptuous quantities. The biryani paired with the Chicken Chaap and raita is a match made in heaven, and we could not get enough of this classic pairing!
The Phirni and Shahi Tukra at Dastaan will provide you with just the right amount of sweet relief after a satisfying lunch or dinner consisting of delectable Mughlai dishes. These classic Mughlai desserts come in small earthen bowls. While the Phirni has a saffron aroma, the Shahi Tukra comes with milky goodness.
