The Legacy Lounge at The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata witnessed a star-studded launch on September 20 in the presence of significant dignitaries who graced the opening ceremony of this fine dining multi-cuisine restaurant.
Keeping in mind the culinary excellence that Calcutta stands for, the entire idea behind this restaurant is to assure patrons to retreat their tastebuds with the four basic pillars of Bengali, Nizami, Anglo-Indian and Tangra Chinese cuisines all under one roof. Besides, the menu specialises in incorporating those delicacies which are craftily picked to exude a vibe of mid-19th century Calcutta that is reflective of both the history and the taste of those times.
Executive Chef at The Lalit Great Eastern Kolkata, Madhumita Mohanta brings her precision and expertise in experimenting with antique cuisines accompanied with a contemporary touch. “We wanted to create a menu that not only tantalises the tastebuds but also tells the story of Calcutta’s culinary evolution. Each dish on our menu is a labour of love, a tribute to the city’s rich cultural heritage,” said Mohanta.

Mayor Firhad Hakim (right) was very appreciative of the whole idea as he said, “I felt really great at the launch of The Legacy Lounge. It is an entirely new entity in Calcutta. The lounge has been rightly named with respect to the fact that it has been launched in a hotel like The Lalit Great Eastern, which itself is a heritage property that boasts of a thriving legacy for a long time. As a veteran of Calcutta, we always strive forward to think about preserving the city’s legacy that our forefathers have left behind. Besides, the food was absolutely excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed being here.”
“I am really very excited about this launch primarily because this is a new restaurant-cum-lounge which we have introduced to Calcutta. The cuisines which we have selected are very handpicked and meticulously designed by the chef herself. I am really optimistic that people in Calcutta are going to love this,” said Kamal Raza, resident manager, The Lalit Great Eastern, Kolkata.
