FICCI FLO and Unmish Learning Centre come together to support children with disabilities

The FICCI FLO Kolkata Chapter, in collaboration with the Unmish Learning Centre, organised Poornam 2024, a transformative free rehabilitation camp for children with special needs. The event, held at Unmish Learning Centre in New Alipore on November 29, catered to children aged one to 14 years with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism, speech delay, Down’s Syndrome, developmental delay and other neurological and congenital disorders.

With several underprivileged children and their families in attendance, the camp offered health check-ups, diagnoses, and personalised protocol designed to empower parents in nurturing their children’s development. The event focused on equipping families with home-based strategies and skills to support their children effectively, fostering growth and inclusion.

The event was a joint effort spearheaded by Neha Garodia, an integral member of FICCI FLO Kolkata, alongside her dedicated team. Simple games and activities were organised for the children, bringing joy and engagement to the day.

Nita Diwan, founder of Unmish, and her son, Nikunj, who is differently abled, were pivotal to the event’s success. Reflecting on the vision of Unmish, she shared that the mission extends beyond individuals; the idea is to empower entire families, creating a ripple effect of inclusion within the community.
