BITM celebrates National Science Day on February 28

The Birla Industrial and Technological Museum (BITM), a unit of National Council of Science Museums, celebrated National Science Day on February 28 with school students

The day started off with a science march in the morning from Park Circus Maidan to the BITM campus. Students and teachers from various schools across the city took part in the early-morning walk

Several schools like Patha Bhavan , Manirtat Raimani Institution, Kolkata Bhalobashi Foundation and The BSS School participated in the Science Day programmes

Over 950 students came together to profess their love for science and engage in the simple and fun side of the subject

A major attraction was the curation of a special open-air science show. Several experiments were conducted which the audience watched with amazement

Events like Open-House Quiz, screening of BITM documentary Characterising Colour – Sir C.V. Raman at Work and a lecture by Bhupati Chakrabarti on ‘ Light illuminates and the study of light enlightens’ were the highlights of the day

An exhibition on ‘Technological Evolution of time-keeping devices’, which comprises an assembly of clocks from the 1800s from the personal collection of Tapas Kumar Bose, was inaugurated. The exhibition will be open till March 15, 2023
