A Dhanbad court on Friday permitted police to take BJP Baghmara MLA Dhullu Mahto on a one-day remand to interrogate him in connection with a land dispute case lodged by Rajeev Kumar Srivastava, the nephew of former mines minister O.P. Lal.

The court of first class judicial magistrate Sangeeta granted police permission to take Dhullu on remand on the basis of a fresh petition stressing the need to question the MLA about a document with regard to the case.

He said hearing in a rioting and attempt-to-murder case against Dhullu was held in the court of additional district judge III Rajiv Kumar on Friday and the next hearing was on Saturday.
