The training and placement officer of BIT-Sindri, Ghanshyam Rai, said: “A total of 360 students had taken the written test for TCS on August 3, among which 140 qualified for the interview on August 13 and out of them 48 were selected. So far, 70 of our B-Tech students in a batch of 725 have been placed and the selection of 48 students for TCS is a major achievement under the prevailing economic situation.”

He said: “More software giants such as Wipro would visit the campus next month. The placement for core sectors would begin mid-September. Seven students of our institute have been lapped up by Analytics Quotient on an annual package of Rs 5 lakh.”

Tata Steel has offered Reema Murmu of information technology Rs 8.8 lakh/annum for a position with them and also selected five students, including three from electrical engineering and one each from mechanical engineering and metallurgy, on packages of Rs 10.11 lakh/annum.

Kreeti Technologies has hired Sourabh Pal and Saurabh Kumar Singh on a package of Rs 6 lakh/annum.

BIT-Sindri director Dharmendra Kumar Singh said: “Selection of students in the time of recession shows the hard work put in by our faculty in grooming our students and also the quality of education imparted by us because recruiters nowadays are concentrating more on the employability factor of a student in this changed scenario of shrinking job market.”

Only 318 students out of 725 secured jobs from the 2018-19 batch, while from the 2017-18 batch only 273 students were selected. In 2016-17, a total of 266 students secured jobs through campus placements. A total of 315 students were selected from the 2015-16 batch, while from the 2014-15, 2013-14 and 2012-13 batches 304, 320 and 366 students were picked up from the campus respectively.
