Bike-borne men loot Rs 5 lakh near Kandra

Unidentified men on a bike looted Rs 5 lakh at gunpoint from an employee of a flour mill near Kandra industrial area, around 8km from the Dhanbad district headquarters, on Monday. Sajjan Kumar was headed towards the SBI;s Bazar Samiti branch in a car when the two men signalled the driver to stop. The duo then flashed a gun and ordered Kumar to hand over the bag containing the cash before speeding away. Dhanbad police have initiated a probe.

Drinking water and sanitation department minister Mithilesh Thakur inspected Hatia dam on Monday after social worker Pradeep Kumar Tiwary wrote about the wastage of water from the dam, leading to a crisis in Dhurwa locality, on Twitter and drew the minister’s attention to it.

Stop-dam plea to CM

A delegation of Manki Munda Sangh, Kolhan, met chief minister Hemant Soren on Sunday and urged him to stop the construction of Icha-Kharkai dam in West Singhbhum district.

Archery feat

Kolhan University’s archery recurve team reached the finals at Khelo India University Games in KIIT University in Bhubaneswar. Female archers Komalika Bari, Basanti Birua and Suman Purty reached the finals with the highest scores. The mixed team comprising Bari and Sourav Mukhi will also play the finals on Wednesday.
