Supreme Court of India issues notice to Centre and Twitter

Petitioners sought a leash on mainstream and social media from promoting hate and seditious propaganda

The Supreme Court on Friday issued notices to the Centre and Twitter India on BJP leader Vinit Goenka’s petition seeking the formation of a regulatory mechanism to check advertisements and paid content that may be hateful, inciting or seditious.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S.A. Bobde tagged the petition along with other PILs in which petitioners had sought a leash on mainstream and social media from promoting hate and seditious propaganda.
