Odisha: Rs 14.76 crore earmarked for Puri Rath Yatra

After the meeting, Dibyasingh Deb said the ongoing heritage corridor project around the temple poses no threat to the 12th century Shree Jagannath Temple

Puri Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee (SJMC) on Monday earmarked Rs 14.76 crore for the upcoming Rath Yatra festival which is scheduled to begin from July 1.

The temple management committee presided by Puri Gajapati, Dibyasingh Deb, scion of the Puri royal family, approved a budget of Rs 248.50 crore for the year 2022-23. “The revenue surplus is around Rs 42.73 crore,” said officials.

After the meeting, Deb said the ongoing heritage corridor project around the temple poses no threat to the 12th century Shree Jagannath Temple.

“The temple management committee has given its approval to the architectural design of the corridor project. We have been involved in this from the concept plan. The work has commenced and both the state and central government should take it forward. All should cooperate.” Deb said.
