Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday for claiming victimisation by the Opposition and indulging in publicity sans work.

He also asserted that the present dispensation at the Centre has brushed under the carpet all the good work done by the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.

“He (Modi) should tell what he used to be engaged in before,” retorted Nitish when asked about the victimisation claim.

The Prime Minister had claimed, while relying on the motion of thanks on the President’s address, in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the Opposition had ganged up to criticise, accuse and abuse him over the past nine years.

“Does he (Modi) even mention the work that has been done? So many good works have been done earlier. Even the work done during the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and the things that were are also not mentioned or discussed,” Nitish added while pulling him up for not entering into a dialogue over the work that has been done.

“Many states have done much development work. We have also got much work done and it has been appreciated at other places. But today only those works are mentioned that are not even implemented,” the chief minister added.

Nitish was talking to reporters while visiting the Purnea district as a part of his ongoing Samadhan Yatra to take stock of the implementation of development works across the state.

Hitting out at the Centre for not constructing a civilian airport on the outskirts of Purnea town, the chief minister said: “I am very sad about it. People know that this airport was to be built ahead of others, but this has not even been started.”
