Kamal Nath kicked off his stint as Madhya Pradesh chief minister by signing a file that promises to write off loans of up to Rs 2 lakh for the state's farmers.

The move follows a promise by Congress president Rahul Gandhi during the poll campaign that if people of Madhya Pradesh voted for Congress, the party would implement the farmers' loan waiver within 10 days of coming to power.
