The Uttarakhand government has requested pilgrims to register for the Char Dham Yatra only on the official website to avoid fraud.

State tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar said pilgrims should also not book helicopter tickets through any “illegal source”, adding that the Yatra would be on till October and there was no reason to rush.

“Do your registration or ticket booking from the official website or over the counter only,” Jawalkar said. Some people are trying to cheat by photoshopping or editing registration forms, he said. Passengers with questionable documents are barred from travelling further.

Registration for the Char Dham Yatra is free, he said. About 12 lakh people have joined the yatra in the 26 days since it started, causing overcrowding. Pilgrims are requested to visit only on their respective booking dates.
