Vignettes and voices from smart city Varanasi, the PM's home seat

Malin Basti in Nagwa sits cheek-by-jowl with the Benaras Hindu University (BHU) campus, a warren of nearly a thousand households in the heart of Varanasi. These are all Dalit homes, the majority of them Jatav homes. The wretchedness of their condition, the squalour and stench they eke their lives in, the utter neglect and indifference of the powers can only partially be conveyed by these photographs
