Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that Congress’ tally in the Lok Sabha polls will be an 'all-time low', as he mocked its leader Rahul Gandhi’s decision to contest from Uttar Pradesh’s Rae Bareli seat, 'sensing defeat' at Wayanad where he is a sitting MP. Modi also slammed the Opposition bloc INDIA and Congress for 'supporting' the 'vote jihad' comments made by a candidate of the Samajwadi Party (SP), an ally of the grand old party in Uttar Pradesh.

Former Karnataka minister H D Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna face fresh troubles as a case has been lodged based on a youth's complaint alleging that his mother was abducted after a video of her being allegedly tied and raped by Prajwal emerged. Revanna, who is a JD(S) MLA from Holenarasipura constituency in Hassan district, is the son of former Prime Minister and JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda and elder brother of former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.

Supreme Court told the Enforcement Directorate that it would consider hearing arguments on the interim bail plea of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy-linked money laundering case on account of the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi. "We are saying we will hear on interim bail and not saying we will grant interim bail. We may or may not grant interim bail," the bench said.

Hyderabad police said they arrested five Telangana Congress party social media activists in connection with Union Home Minister Amit Shah's alleged morphed video that went viral recently. According to a statement issued by the police, they received a complaint on April 27 from a state BJP leader alleging that the Telangana Congress Pradesh Congress Party on its X account posted morphed or fabricated video of Amit Shah's speech during his election campaign and public meeting at Siddipet recently, in violation of IT Act.

Supreme Court on Friday refused to entertain a plea that sought a direction to the Election Commission (EC) to take urgent steps for an effective mechanism to solve the issue of 'namesake' candidates contesting polls. "If somebody is born as Rahul Gandhi or if somebody is born as Lalu Prasad Yadav, how can they be prevented from contesting elections? Would it not be affecting their rights?" the bench asked advocate V K Biju, who appeared in the court on behalf of petitioner Sabu Steephen.

At least six Adani group firms have received show cause notices from Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for alleged violation of related party transactions and non-compliance with listing regulations, the companies said in stock exchange filings. The firms said there is no material non-compliance with applicable laws and regulations and no material consequential effect.
