A collapsed electric pole after the landfall of cyclone Remal, in Guwahati, Assam. The cyclone, which caused widespread destruction in parts of Bengal and Bangladesh, has now entered the North East with rains lashing in Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya and Manipur. In Arunachal, the IMD has predicted thunderstorms with lightning and extremely heavy rainfall in isolated places of Papum Pare and West Kameng district.

A tree uprooted due to the landfall of Cyclone Remal blocks a road, in Guwahati.  Two persons were killed and 17 others injured in separate incidents as heavy rains accompanied by strong winds, as an impact of cyclone Remal, left a trail of destruction in Assam. One person, identified as Putul Gogoi, died in a landslide caused by incessant rains in Lakhimpur district. A 17-year-old college student, identified as Kausik Bordoloi Amphi, was killed when a tree fell on the auto-rickshaw in which he was travelling at Dighalbori in Morigaon district. There were four others in the vehicle and all of them were injured, reported PTI quoting authorities.

A school bus damaged by a tree that fell in a storm and injured 12 children following the landfall of Cyclone Remal, at Dhekiajuli, in Sonitpur, Assam. As per media reports, they were admitted to a local hospital and receiving treatment. Another person was injured in the Palashbari area in Kamrup district as he tried to escape a falling tree.

Workers clear a road blocked by an uprooted tree following the landfall of Cyclone Remal, in Guwahati. Trees were uprooted in several places across Assam, including Guwahati, because of the strong winds. Power supply was disrupted in lower Assam as electric poles fell, and water-logging was reported from different towns, officials said.

In manipur, heavy train triggered a mudslide near Sinam village in Kangpokpi district on NH 37 Imphal-Silchar highway sweeping off a truck into a gorge.

Rescue work underway after a stone quarry collapsed amid heavy rain in the aftermath of Cyclone Remal, in Aizawl district, Mizoram. Aleast 14 people have died and several others have gone missing due to the collapse, reports PTI. The incident took place around 6 am in an area between Melthum and Hlimen on the southern outskirts of Aizawl town.

In Arunachal, IMD has predicted thunderstorms with lightning and extremely heavy rainfall in isolated places of Papum Pare and West Kameng districts, Heavy rainfall may trigger landslides, leading to temporary road blockages, and flashfloods that may cause damage to kutcha roads and vulnerable infrastructures, Met department has cautioned.
