Actress Priyanka Chopra revealed on Tuesday that she has lent her voice to a real-life tigress in Disney Nature’s upcoming film Tiger.

In the movie, Priyanka has lent her voice to Ambar, a tigress with a “timeless legacy”, living in the bustling jungles of India where “creatures big and small, timid and majestic roam”.

“‘Tiger’… a story that captures the wild and brings out everything that happens within it — tales of love, conflict, hunger, survival and so much more,” the 41-year-old actress wrote on Instagram.

“She cares for her cubs with so much love that the beautiful bond between mother and child shines through so magnificently,” the Citadel actress wrote about Ambar, adding that Tiger was shot over the course of eight years.

The feature film, executive produced by Priyanka herself, will follow the journey of Ambar in the fabled forests of India.

“I had so much fun lending my voice to this incredible story and exploring the jungles through this film. I can’t wait for y’all to enjoy the jungle with us,” Priyanka signed off.

In another statement, Priyanka shared her excitement of being a part of “something so special” and telling “the story of this magnificent animal that comes from my country”. “I have always loved tigers and I feel a kinship with the female tiger — I feel very protective of my family. Ambar’s journey is something I think every mom would really relate to,” she added.

According to the official synopsis given by Disney Plus, Tiger shows how tiger cubs, often “curious, rambunctious and at times a bit clumsy”, learn from their savvy mother, who will do all she can to keep them safe from pythons, bears and marauding male tigers.

Directed by Mark Linfield and co-directed by Vanessa Berlowitz and Rob Sullivan, Tiger has been filmed for over 1,500 days. Produced by Linfield, Berlowitz and Roy Conli, it is slated to release on Disney Plus on April 22 to mark the occasion of Earth Day.
