Kinds of Kindness stars Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Jesse Plemons and Joe Alwyn attended the premiere of the upcoming Yorgos Lanthimos directorial in New York City on Thursday. Here’s a look.

While Stone looked stunning in a black semi-sheer cut-out dress with polka prints, Plemons and Lanthimos twinned in black tuxedos. Lanthimos and Stone have reunited for Kinds of Kindness following their collaboration on Poor Things, which won four trophies including best actress for Stone at the 96th Academy Awards earlier this year.
Kinds of Kindness consists of three distinct stories featuring the same cast in different roles. Dafoe plays a friendly businessman Robert in the first part of the film.
Mamoudou Athie plays characters named Will and Neil in the first two parts, respectively, and a morgue nurse in the third. The Front Runner actor plays the role of Plemons’ cop partner in the second chapter.
Kinds of Kindness marks Alwyn’s second collaboration with Stone and Lanthimos, following their 2018 period drama The Favourite.
Stone’s Poor Things co-star Margaret Qualley also stars in Kinds of Kindness. In the Oscar-winning film, Qualley played the role of Felicity, a young girl on whom Dafoe’s eccentric surgeon performs experiments after Stone’s Bella runs away with Mark Ruffalo’s debauched lawyer to explore the outside world.
Child actor Merah Benoit, who plays Stone’s daughter in the third chapter of the film, posed for the lens.
Plemons attended the premiere with his wife, Civil War actress Kirsten Dunst.
“Kinds of Kindness is a triptych fable, following a man without choice who tries to take control of his own life; a policeman who is alarmed that his wife who was missing-at-sea has returned and seems a different person; and a woman determined to find a specific someone with a special ability, who is destined to become a prodigious spiritual leader,” reads the official synopsis on the website of Cannes Film Festival, where the film had its world premiere earlier this year.
The entire cast of Kinds of Kindness took a bow on stage after the screening of the film. The ensemble cast also includes Hong Chau and Hunter Schafer. Kinds of Kindness released in the US theatres on June 21 and is slated to arrive in cinemas in the UK on June 28.
