Director Suman Ghosh’s latest film The Scavenger of Dreams — which takes a look at the lives and aspirations of garbage collectors — recently had its grand world premiere at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.
Ghosh — the man behind many a landmark film — was accompanied by primary cast members Sudipta Chakraborty and Shardul Bharadwaj, as well as director of photography Ravi Kiran Ayyagari and Angelica Monica Bhowmick, the production designer of the film. Ghosh pens a note from Busan for t2.
“We had three packed screenings of The Scavenger of Dreams, followed by a Q&A with the cast and crew. We were overwhelmed by the audience’s reaction.
The thing which I find fascinating is that we could showcase a story of a waste collector family from Calcutta to an audience in Korea. I believe it is a great test of the universality of a film, whether it connects to such a disparate audience base.”
