BAFTA Film Awards 2024 date announced; voting to begin in December this year

The 2024 ceremony will mark the arts charity’s 75th awards ceremony dedicated to films

BAFTA Film Awards 2024 will be held on February 18 with round one of voting opening in December this year, The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced.

According to a tweet from BAFTA, the final nominations for the awards will be announced on January 18 after two rounds of voting. The BAFTA tea party will be held in Los Angeles on January 6, ahead of the final nomination announcement, the tweet further read.

“We're excited to announce the BAFTA Film Awards 2024 will be held on Sunday 18 February ✨,” BAFTA’s official Twitter handle wrote on May 31, sharing details of the 75th BAFTA Film Awards.

Dates and timeline for the 2024 BAFTA awards

2024’s BAFTA ceremony will unwind a full three weeks before the Oscars, which is set for March 10 and will once again coincide with the Berlin Film Festival, which runs from February 15-25.

This year’s BAFTA Awards took place on February 19. Netflix’s Edward Berger-directed German-language war film All Quiet on the Western Front triumphed at the BAFTA Film Awards in London, bagging seven wins, including Outstanding Film, Director, Film Not in the English Language, Cinematography and Adapted Screenplay.

Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin also had a strong showing, converting its 10 nominations to four wins, including Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay and the Supporting Acting categories.
