Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rise has crossed the lifetime collection of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal in five days, earning Rs 593.1 crore nett in India, as per industry data-tracking platform Sacnilk.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2023 blockbuster Animal concluded its eight-week run at the domestic box office at Rs 553.87 crore nett.
Pushpa 2, a sequel to Sukumar’s 2021 blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise, is now closing in on the lifetime collections of Stree 2 (Rs 597.99 crore nett) and Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan (Rs 640.25 crore nett).
Pushpa 2 kicked off its theatrical run with an impressive Rs 10.65 crore nett from preview shows, followed by Rs 164.25 crore nett on its opening day. Its weekend collections were equally remarkable, earning Rs 93.8 crore nett on Day 2, Rs 119.25 crore nett on Day 3, and Rs 141.05 crore nett on Day 4. Despite experiencing a 54 per cent drop in collections on its first Monday, it managed to rake in Rs 64.1 crore nett at the domestic box office.
Released on December 5, Pushpa 2 has resonated strongly with Hindi and Telugu-speaking audiences, contributing Rs 331.7 crore nett and Rs 211.7 crore nett, respectively, to its total collections. The Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions added Rs 34.45 crore nett, Rs 11.2 crore nett, and Rs 4.05 crore nett, respectively.
The Hindi version of Pushpa 2 has become the fastest Indian film to cross the Rs 300-crore mark, achieving this milestone in just five days. In comparison, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Pathaan took six and seven days, respectively, to reach the same benchmark. Other members of the Rs 300-crore club include Animal (7 days), Gadar 2 (8 days), and Baahubali 2 (10 days).
Pushpa 2: The Rule continues the story of Pushpa Raj (Allu Arjun), a sandalwood smuggler building his empire while battling against a police officer (played by Fahadh Faasil). The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna as Pushpa’s wife Srivalli.
